Gooey Dump Cake

This is a great recipe for a dessert and can be made on most cookers or smokers. It is very simple and easy to make. I found this recipe on another forum several years ago and it was posted by a fellow named Burnt.

Gooey Dump Cake

1 - 20ounce can of crushed pineapple in its own juice (do not use the stuff with syrup)

2 - 16 bags of frozen peaches (it their own juice) (has to be frozen, not fresh or canned)

1 box of cheap white cake mix

¼ to ½ cup of brown sugar

¼ to ½ cup of raisins

1 stick melted butter or margarine

Preheat oven to 350ºF and lightly grease a 9x13 pan. Dump can of pineapple and juice in pan and spread even. Dump 1 bag of frozen peaches and spread even. Peaches MUST still be frozen. Dump the box of cake mix next and spread even. Dump the second bag of frozen peaches on next and spread even. Dump the raisins and spread even. You can add more or less raisins. Dump the brown sugar next and spread even. You can add more or less of brown sugar. Take the melted butter or margarine and drizzle over the top. Put in oven for 55 mins. Remove from oven and let set for 15 to 30 mins. Serve with ice cream on top and then sprinkle pecans on top of ice cream. This dessert is very sweet. The ice cream helps mellow out the sweetness. This taste better when the dump cake is warm.

This was the end of a larger cook on one of my Backwoods cooker and I just raised the temp up to about 350 degrees after I got all the regular meat off of the cooker and placed the cake on the cooker. I also did a couple skillets of cornbread and some hoogie rolls.

Cornbread just out of the cooker.

Hoogie rolls cooling on the counter top.

Gooey Dump Cake just out of the cooker.

Best if served warm and it is a very sweet dessert.
