I have been communicating with a Mr. Ottie Voegerl on this new Southern Indiana KCBS barbeque contest and now have some information on what looks like a great event.
It's always nice to have an organizer that is also a cook and Ottie is a member of the The Flying Burritos cooking team. I am sure he understands just what makes a contest a great event!
I sent this gentleman a list of questions on this new event and did get back some information on this July 31st & August 1st event.
He is working with the Governor's office on getting the event declared a State Championship.
Entry fee will be $200 dollars.
The purse will be $5,000 dollars
He is working on getting both electricity and water to each of the sites.
The surface will be either on rocks or grass.
No inside bathrooms or showers but just the Porto Johns.
His cooking sites will be about 20X40 so should be large enough for most cooking rigs.
The cooks can arrive early on Thursday if they want and also stay over on Saturday evening and then leave on Sunday morning.
Ribs & Bibs will cook this new event.

Greetings. Will you be cooking at the 2010 Strassenfest event?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Mike
Mike,
ReplyDeleteI sure will be cooking this event this year as it is a very good contest. Stop by my site and I will have a cold one for you.
Dave
Thanks Dave! I am looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteSorry we missed you in Jasper, Dave. We came by your truck/camper a few times, but you weren't out and we didn't want to knock on the camper.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 3rd place finish. This was our first time to Strassenfest. We really enjoyed the car show, and well.. biergarten!
Hope to catch you some other time.
Mike
A real shame that we missed you folks. We do keep some strange hours at a contest with the overnight cooking. Was also so darn hot that we just wern't outside as much as usual.
ReplyDeleteCome on down to French Lick this weekend and maybe we can cross paths. Do knock on the trailer door.
